Bus 174 (2002)

Country : Brazil
Genre : Documentary

"Do you know who the real victim in all of this is? It’s you.”If you come to know that these words were uttered by a helpless hostage to a hijacker, one wonders how could a hijacker of a public bus numbered 174, in city of Jardim Botânico, Rio de Janeiro., could be a victim in a such situation .The documentary named "Bus 174 " is the narration of the event of  Bus 174 hijacking by hostages, elite squad officers and people who knew the hijacker prior to incident. With four bullets in his pistol, the hijacker keeps four females as hostage in the bus with some very interesting demands in exchange for release of hostages. The documentary reveals the past of the hijacker named, Sandro Rosa do Nascimento,  and shows the conditions of homeless children in one of the most famous cities of Brazil. When no one seems to care about them, as if they are "invisible", these kids resort to drugs, theft and robbery in order to survive and avenge from Society. What is really interesting is the similarity of conditions found in any third world country for such children. None of us realize that what our future generation is turning into due to our own negligence. Documentary also shows the state of law and order institutes in such countries where these kids, who can be made a responsible citizen, are treated like animals .They are brutally tortured and some times even killed while jails keep more prisoners than its capacity. Furthermore the police of such states is often not prepared as how to act in such situations. Being the narration of real life event, as the hijacker repeatedly says “this is no action movie”, one also questions the role of media’s reality TV coverage in such events which can elongate the dead lock in such situation and risk lives of hostages. Rarely will you see a documentary that could depict so many problems of our third world by using just one incident. A must watch for documentary lovers and insight into real problems of third world country.

List of Remakes By Bollywood

I love Indian Cinema, it is the cinema that i have watched most after Hollywood but what  really disappoints me is when you get to watch movies made on story lines same as that of Hollywood or another cinema because i don't want to see the same thing with two different names.Whether you have watched these movies or not,let me tell you that there are some movies within them that are not a disappointment but may be really good to watch if you haven't watched the originals(as happened with me with for some of them)
1. Zinda /Oldboy

Similarities:Same story of protagonist imprisoned by antagonist in a personal jail for more than 10 years for an unknown reasons but gradually the story reveals the reasons behind such bizarre acts.
Difference:The end is different, honestly the original movie has the better end because it is too much sick one and really leaves it to viewers decide as to how movie ended while Indian one has simple end that is too some extent predictable.Honestly, i watched Indian movie first and i liked it a lot but the opinion about it dropped it a little bit because the original is superior in every aspect.Anyway the Indian movie is worth watching for people who love Indian Cinema and like movies made on new themes.

2.Kante / Reservoir dogs

Similarities:A bunch of professional robbers make a plan to rob a bank only to find that police or  cops were    told by one of them about the expected robbery.
Difference:Not much i guess except a bit of difference in ending and background stories of the lead characters and good songs as always is part of Indian remakes

3.Qiyamat /The Rock

Similarities:The protagonist needs help of a convict in order to evade a terrorist plot
Difference:lots of dances in Indian ones and the bad guys in Indian movie have no background as to why they are like that.

4.Phir Hera Pheri / Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Similarities:The guys under pressure steal or rob some precious stuff ,from guys who also stole it from some one else, for paying up a huge debt to a lending party.
Difference:The good guys decreases from four to three in Indian remake and as part of any Indian movie, there is a love story and songs to attract audience. The villains in British movie are far more dangerous and something to be feared while villains in Indian movie are very stupid. Honestly both of the movies are good,Indian movie is a way more funny, may be because i love indian comedies.

5.Ghajini / Memento

Similarities:A man with short term loss of memory is looking for the murderer of his wife, with clues written on his body.
Difference: The indian movie is stupid , in plain terms , as much as possible.I was not expecting Amir Khan ,after acting in movies like Lagaan(Oscar nominated) and Dil Chahta hay , to participate in this worthless project. The two movies have different endings. The indian remake has plot holes to swallow the whole train. There is absolutely no need to watch the indian remake, unless you are fan of Amir Khan. The only good thing about ghajini could be its music or nice change in Amir Khan physique for the particular role.

6.Bichoo / Léon: The Professional

Similarities:A professional assassin befriends a female whose family  murdered by a cop who is a drug dealer. The assassin later on takes revenge on the behalf of female.
Difference:while the female is a little girl in English movie, the female is a beautiful woman who can dance in different tracks. Both of the movies are good though the original movie is superior.

7.Partner / Hitch

Similarities:Love doctor, the hero, is going to help a hopeless guy to get his true love.
Difference: Not much except of inclusion of some other characters like a father of one of heroines.

8. Kyun Kay Mein Jhoot Nahi Bolta / Liar Liar

Similarities:A Lawyer is very very successful one because of his skills of providing fabricated lies.
Difference: Again, you wont find much difference ,but both movies are enjoyable as they cast Jim Carrey in the original and Govinda in Indian remake, who make the movie really funny with their acting.

Movies Based On Novel

These movies can't be stated as remake but movie was first made  in Cinema other than media.

1.Agni Shaksi /Sleeping with the Enemy

Similarities:The leading female after leaving her abusive husband in strange circumstances when the husband is thinking that her wife has died, is trying to restart her life but she cannot leave past so easily as the husband is also on her trail
Difference:The ending is different for two movies, that is the only difference i could find. This movie have been remade many times. It was remade even in Pakistan.

2.Chachi 420/ Mrs Doubt fire

Similarities:A father disguised as a woman in order to stay close with his kids, after separation with his wife due   to marital problems:
Difference: The end is different for two movies, but both movie are equally funny. As i watched indian movie   first so i like it more.

3.Sarkar / Godfather

Similarities: People look for a god father to provide justice instead of government. The rivals of God Father ar using the closest people to God Father in order to bring him down.
Difference:The ending is different but both of movies are equally good. Each one of them is worth looking

do you know of other remakes.is it good or bad to make remakes when the audience can't watch the movie in their own language.Share your opinion.

Hero (2002)

The East Asian Cinema(not Asian cinema,i think the use of word Asian for movies from this region hides the diversity of Asian Cinema) are famous for making movies based on marital arts. But seldom movies have the story that are relevant to the world we are living in at the moment. No one wants a never ending war but everyone wants an everlasting peace, even the most skillful warriors.Hero is one such movie which stars the famous Jet Li,along with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon fame actress Zhiang Ziyi in a supporting role. The story is set around times when China was suffering from civil wars between Great Emperors. There have been many assassination attempts on lives of  King of Qin,one of the emperor striving for a complete domination of China. The King of Qin  invites a nameless prefect( Jet Li ) for awarding him on killing three assassins named Broken Sword(Tony Cheung),Flying Snow(Maggie Cheung) and Long Sky(Donnie Yen).As the prefect tells the King how he conspired against the Assassins, the king starts to suspect the true intentions of Prefect and that is where the film starts to get interesting.
The movie cinematography is amazing. The use of bright colors and beautiful scenery of China makes the scenes alive. The music is great according to the requirement of particular scenes. But the thing that i dislike are some scenes which are impossible in real life. The beautiful scene of a sky covered with ten thousand or even more so arrows is spoiled when all those arrows are stopped by  nameless prefect and flying snow.Similarly the use of invisible wires has some what spoiled the true fun of martial arts movies. No doubt the fight scenes are brilliant, but jumps as high as 50 feet and covering a distance of 1 kilometer are not realistic no matter how good it looks. If you liked Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for its aesthetic excellence and catching storyline, you wont like to miss this one
